Cross-City Railways Bridge – Warsaw

Cross-City Railways Bridge – Warsaw, Poland

Warsaw, Poland • Transportation Infrastructure

Project Overview

The Cross-City Railways Bridge in Warsaw stands as a key component in the revitalization of Poland’s post-war transportation infrastructure. Acopex Construction proudly contributed to the digital reconstruction of this historically significant bridge, which connects the eastern and western sectors of the city over the Vistula River. The project highlights a blend of engineering precision, historical preservation, and modern design-build expertise.

Scope of Work

Spanning over 43,104 square feet, the project involved the full-scale digital interpretation and modeling of the bridge’s five-span steel structure. This included accurate recreation of key architectural and structural elements such as the support pillars, truss framework, and rail integration systems. The reconstruction emphasized fidelity to the original post-war rebuild led by Polish engineer Franciszek Szelągowski.

Client

Polish State Railways (PKP) engaged Acopex Construction to digitally reconstruct the bridge as part of a broader initiative to archive and preserve Poland’s civil infrastructure heritage.

Consultant

The project’s technical oversight and structural authenticity were informed by the original engineering contributions of Franciszek Szelągowski, who played a pivotal role in the 1945–1949 post-war rebuild.
